2013, September 12 – Bennett along with Moser charged with four counts of premeditated murder, four counts of felony murder and two counts of aggravated robbery after four people were shot and killed in a car on Renegade Mountain in Cumberland County, Tennessee.
According to records, Bennett was arrested or appeared in court nearly a dozen times with a hold from Florida in place. However, Florida authorities decide not to extradite Bennett. Florida prosecutors say the hold was on a charge of theft and if Bennett was extradited back, it was a high probability that he would have bonded out soon after his arrival. According to Florida law enforcement, a typical extradition from eastern Tennessee to the northwestern panhandle of Florida would cost Florida around $500 to $800. Therefor Florida officials chose not to extradite Jacob Bennett.
Bennett now sits in the Morgan County Correctional Facility awaiting trial in Cumberland County. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty if Bennett is convicted of the quadruple murders.
