The beauty of the Killdeer.................

It took 4 weeks from the first egg laid to hatching.  All 3 hatched the same day.  The nest was built on the shoulder of the road into Pamelot so was a bit of an effort to keep traffic off the nest but parents and the 3 fledglings are doing great, now running in a pasture eating big!

Another couple of weeks and they take flight!  Let's hope the fox, coyotes, skunk, bobcat, bear, racoons, opossum, crows, snakes, turtles, hawks and the occasional bald eagle here on the Cumberland Plateau can't find them!  It's not easy being a young bird that can't fly for another couple of weeks.

Killdeer, Charadrius vociferus vociferous.
