70 One with the Salt!

In 2023 I bought our home in Los Cabos to stay healthy.

At 70, it's tougher to stay healthy.   I have always loved and respected the water, from early swimming lessons on the Pomme de Terre River in Morris, MN to summers in the Missouri River waters of Lake Sacajawea in North Dakota, obtaining my W.S.I. certificate in the natatorium at UMM, lifeguarding in the summer of 1975 at Page Lake near Hancock, MN to ocean water swimming for a decade in the 1980's at LaJolla Cove in LaJolla, CA where I worked for Drexel Burnham Lambert on Prospect Street.  Now LaJolla Cove has the stench of seal excrement and is often off-limits due to ocean pollution coming up from Mexico to say nothing of the recent shore landings from maritime criminal aliens!  Life happens.  Life often changes.

Look close and see an orange buoy, well offshore, to the left of me.  That buoy is my goal, daily.  Sometimes several times a day depending on wind and wave conditions and what is happening on the trading turret.  The water clarity, the fish, the rays, the pelicans, the frigate birds, the gulls, the osprey, the yachts, and the breaching whales are all here in the waters of mile-long Palmilla Beach.  If you ever travel to Los Cabos, specifically Palmilla, near San Jose del Cabo do yourself a favor.  Check out the sights and sounds of Palmilla Beach at sunrise.  I promise you one thing.  You won't forget it.  Ever.

COLORADO Wake Up!

Yellowstone National Park concluded its longest study on the reintroduction of wolves and the purported “trophic cascade” made famous by a video claiming wolves change rivers. The researchers monitored 21 riparian sites over 20 years and the following was their conclusion…

“We conclude that the restoration of large carnivores to the food web failed to restore riparian plant communities on Yellowstone’s northern range”

In short, the oft-cited benefit of wolves restoring the environment was found to be false - at least over a 20-year period. I’ve often said and will say again that human timelines are much shorter than nature’s timelines and we humans tend to be impatient.

What we do know is that since wolf reintroduction in 1995, the northern Yellowstone elk herd’s population has gone from approximately 17k to less than 4k in 2013 to about 6k today. We also know that elk make up 85% of a wolf’s diet, wolves kill about 22 big game animals per wolf per year, and wolves cause a 32% (specifically 24-43%) decrease in pregnancy rates in elk leading to lower calf to cow ratios which makes it harder for elk numbers to recover.

This doesn’t make wolves good or bad - it’s just facts about a prolific and efficient apex predator. What it does mean is that all species need to be managed. Colorado’s wildlife is in for a rude awakening with no CPW plan to control the wolves’ population or establishment of a carrying capacity.

What did I miss?

It was a stellar morning on Palmilla Beach.  The color of the orioles, the sparkling water, the whales breaching, the Ocean 9 course alive in color, the fresh coffee, hell, come to think of it, it just seems like another day in paradise.  But, somebody has to do it.   And it just as well be me.

Why not?   I paid the dues.   The only cost of entry was working half days, six to six.   Life is good and getting a hell of a lot better.   Every day.

I haven't been keeping up with much on the macro front in America.  Am holding a lot of cash, far more than anything "normal" and will get back in the saddle when I get back to the ranch.  The markets aren't going anywhere.  They are open 6.5 hours of the day in New York and one can place bets accordingly around the world at any given time.

For now, let me ask you.

Where is America headed?  We have a 40-year high of inflation.

Taxpayers have been hoodwinked into spending billions in Ukraine

There are millions of violent primitives flooding the country.

The yield curve is still inverted.

And we have a liar with dementia being called President of the United States.  The stooge continues to sell America his "JOE" sandwiches, unfortunately, we all have to take a bite.  If you have any ideas on where the U.S. is headed fire away.  I listen to about everyone.

Today, right here, right now, is a good day to pray and to give thanks.

To say that I am grateful for the life I have is an understatement.  They always called me a dreamer but there is absolutely no way my life has turned out the way I thought it would. We all face great challenges in life. All of us. It is a privilege we all have just to wake up in America.

I thank my Creator daily for the will and motivation that my parents fostered towards education. The privilege of education. We all have it. It is what prompted me to start my scholarship at the University of Minnesota. My scholarship helps leverage resources to produce long-term meaningful impact for students who need them the most and to help break the cycle of poverty, addiction, moral courage, and the suffocating absence of opportunity in Indian Country.

Call it American privilege, I get it, you should too. Gratitude is an awful powerful human emotion and I am elated to have plenty of it.

Every. Single. Day.

Miigwech.

National Margarita Day

Last year I turned 70 and changed up my lifestyle.  I decided to sleep better, feel better, lose weight, be kind to my body in the few short years I have left on this revolving rock, and curtail my consumption of alcohol.   I was not a huge drinker, to begin with.   A beer here, a scotch there, some wine with dinner, just probably an average consumer.  I sure haven't gone cold turkey, I still will have a cold beer once in a while, especially after a good day of exercise and on occasion will join in at whatever party I am at.

I did have a beer at a great Super Bowl party this year and last night was invited to a party to celebrate National Margarita Day.  I am not certain if it was National Margarita Day in Mexico, Canada, or the United States but it didn't matter.

The friends, the food, the flavorful marg's were stunningly delicious.  Like martinis back in the day, one is never enough, and two is always, too many!  That mantra only applied to martinis because two or more tequila shots were always a conduit to taking clothes off in public!   The wild times in Mexico in the 1980s were a testament to that, maybe just living through those times was enough and to top it off I honestly NEVER walked on any vehicle hoods while the car was in motion, unlike my friends.

I not only want to thank the wonderful Canadian hosts of the party who laid out such a beautiful spread of food and drink but to all the people from Canada I met!  These young ladies are terrific fun and humorous stories follow them 24/7.

I could have been hired as a dance instructor,  chauffeur, or security guard but I hope to see another few years of National Margarita Day in Mexico, same place, same time!  Neighbors by chance, friends for life.

ELON MUSK

I was always serious about people who put their money where their mouth is.

Hunters who get it done, brokers who touted stocks who actually owned a few shares, life insurance agents who actually owned life contracts of the policies they were pitching, trappers who actually put up good numbers year after year, investors who didn't blow up their accounts every few years,  attorneys who took the right side of things, you know, it was like life itself.

Zero tolerance for bullshit.   People who DO and SAY what they are going to do.

Elon Musk comes to mind.   No shortage of money or honesty.  He deserves so much from so many for putting up his money and being honest.

Check out his latest commentary on the wacko's at GOOGLE.

"I’m glad that Google overplayed their hand with their AI image generation, as it made their insane racist, anti-civilizational programming clear to all"

ATT Board of Directors

Once in a great while I will invest in companies with questionable management teams that might have a Board (of Directors) loaded with greatness, talent, vision, and ability, combined with previous business experience.

There isn't a Board of Directors that has less vision, less talent, less business integrity, and less business savvy than the current AT&T Board.

The shareholders of the AT&T Corporation should demand immediate action to replace the Board and management.

How much shareholder equity needs to be squandered before enough is enough?

Have shareholders lost enough?  Do they want to lose more?

It just doesn't end with this crowd of talking heads.

What am I missing here?

Any American who votes for Biden is voting for more repression, more lockdowns, more rights eroded and lost, more wars, more inflation, more hatred, more lies, more illegals, more shit in the streets, more homelessness, more lawlessness, and a hell of a lot more corruption.

Be specific in your answers..............

ATLANTA CAN'T. MAKE. THIS. UP

It's Friday, and markets are lethargic.   Laughing with my crew on the latest developments in an Atlanta, GA courtroom the last couple of days.

Consumer Price Index. Lies and more lies from your government!

Atlanta's Raphael Bostic listen up!!

The actual index of consumer prices hit a new record high this month - and is up over 18% since President Biden's term began.

When I took an economics degree from the University of Minnesota-Morris we would sit around, probably a few beers in the mix, and talk about how all of these statistics we were using were fabricated, manufactured, contrived, or engineered.  That was a long time ago.  Fast forward to the lies of 2024 and Biden's Administration of lies and more lies.

The Fed throwing around "core" numbers and "CPI" that adjusted for inflation is all just a bunch of misdirection.  Contrived numbers by government employees.  It's absolute nonsense. Just be honest.  Believe this.  You shop because you eat.  Do you think we have a 3.2% to 3.5% inflation rate?  Where I come from inflation is above 10%, probably more like 15% to 20%.

Here is my take.  Inflation on most items has been well over 20% since Biden got into office.  There are 80,000 items and over 200 categories of products and services included in the CPI and most of them aren't necessities that people buy regularly.  The numbers dilute the reality of inflation that the majority of American consumers deal with.

Ask anyone.  Ask any of my many friends who pay their bills and don't scab off the government tit.

Look at interest rates, property taxes, insurance premiums, loan rates, grocery bills, and vacations.

It's all so dam convenient for the clowns in government to come up with a number for the American populace and EXCLUDE the increases in FOOD and ENERGY PRICES.  GMAFB...............

Here is the blame game from the Biden crowd.

Putin's fault

It's transitory

Greedy oil companies

It certainly is not Biden

Packages shrink

Covid

Meat conglomerates

Trump

Then the complicit media ...."You get more legs when you're reporting something that's negative," President Biden said of Americans' pessimism about the economy."

I guess the $113,000,000,000.00 appropriated for "aid" to Ukraine (politicians) hasn't had a positive effect either.

$34,000,000,000,000.00 in national debt, and the Senate just voted to spend another $95,000,000,000.00 overseas, $0.00 for America.

Tell me again, why do we pay taxes?

I don't consider myself a real estate investor but probably am.  I own 3 homes and a cabin in different states and different countries.   The way to play the game is real estate.  Residential real estate.  Here are the reasons why.

Key factors that are driving residential real estate growth:

  1. increasing population (immigrants sucking up available rentals)
  2. increase in cash wealth
  3. urban to suburban shift (thank you BLM, Antifa, shitty schools, etc.)
  4. demand for personal household space
  5. home office need
  6. high potential for investor returns
  7. new home supply scarcity  (Builders can't get financing)
  8. build-to-rent sector increase
  9. institutional investors buy-to-rent

Here is some more lies from the Biden Administration.  You can't make this stuff up!

On Monday, the White House confirmed that Biden won't receive a cognitive test in his upcoming physical, as White House doctor Kevin O'Connor says he believes Biden proves his cognitive ability "every day [in] how he operates and how he thinks," according to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

The BRAIN DEAD NFL

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Only two national anthems? Where’s the LGBTQIA anthem? Latinx anthem? Migrant anthem?

The NFL will continue trying to disunite America by featuring two separate “anthems” to begin the Super Bowl. Our country has only one national anthem, which speaks for all its citizens.

Mr. Pfizer talking trash..............

There is a big difference between being a great football player and a trash-talking, disrespectful, liberal.   This guy happens to be both.

Flutter through Life................................

PALANTIR

I have been around the stock market for a long time.   I seldom mention any stocks I own.

Palantir I have owned for a long time.

I have no clue what they do.   Long ago I used an old technique to help me understand stocks.  It was simple.  If I couldn't explain what the company did on the back of a napkin I probably didn't want to own it.

This is what Palantir does:      Palantir Technologies Inc. builds and deploys software platforms for the intelligence community in the United States to assist in counterterrorism investigations and operations.

I don't know Alex Karp, one of the guys who started the company.

If I did I would buy him a hairbrush and a comb.

Congratulations to all of the owners of PALANTIR today.

CLOWN WORLD in D.C.

Going into the weekend I just have to shake my head.

Hard to grasp the lunacy of the Beltway bimbos.

Here is some commentary on the dudes who were ass-ramming in the Senate chambers taken from Zero Hedge.

“Let me get this straight… merely walking through the capitol unauthorized is a felony,” wrote Real Clear Investigations Senior Writer Mark Hemingway.

“But having public sex in the building, filming it, and putting it online doesn’t merit a public lewdness charge?”

“Please tell why I am supposed to respect rule of law in this country.”

“Jacob Chansley spent 310 days in solitary before he took a plea deal then was sentenced to 41 months in prison for saying a prayer in the Senate chamber,” former American Greatness author Julie Kelly posted on X.

“It is officially legal to have recorded sex in US Senate hearing room,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton wrote.

“Of course,” Newsbusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck posted on X. “Democrats can do just about anything without consequences.”

“You can film yourself having gay sex on a Capitol desk, but if you put your feet up on one you get four years in prison,” noted X account Amuse.

“A Democrat staffer proudly makes a gay porn video in a Senate hearing room, NO CHARGE. A Trump-supporting grandmother with cancer walks into the Capitol, JAIL TIME,” political strategist Joey Meugniot wrote on X.

“Activists tear down a statue of a Catholic Saint, NO CRIMINAL CHARGES. A Navy Reserve veteran beheads a Satanic statue in the Iowa State Capitol, charged with HATE CRIME,” Meugniot continued. “Under Biden, America has literally become Sodom and Gomorrah.”

ROBERT F KENNEDY JR. says it best...................

Joe Biden is campaigning in South Carolina now.

February 1 is the first day of Black History Month.

Let’s reminisce on everything he’s done for Black Americans:

- Authored the 1994 crime bill which led to the mass incarceration of black people
- Said if you don’t vote for him, “then you ain’t black”
- Extended penalties for people under 21 charged with selling marijuana
- Endorsed segregationist senators
- Opposed busing because he didn’t want his kids to grow up in a “racial jungle”

Well, well, look at this................

A Ukrainian flag on your social media profile page was all fine and good until someone put a gun in your hand and shipped you to the front to actually fight in the war.

A nation is a people with a shared ethnicity and culture.

A country is a series of lines on a map with a common legal framework designed to protect the interests of the rich.

Nobody will fight for a country and the rich/globalists have deliberately destroyed the concept of the nation.

It's hilarious that young people went straight from waiving flags of Ukraine to posting Tik Tok videos freaking out about being drafted.

Amazing how some skin in the game changes their views.

2/1/2024

Whattaday on Wall Street.   Hell of a start to the month!

About Dean Thomas Parisian

Growing up, his father worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the family lived on many Indian reservations across the Great Plains. From the Badlands of the Hidatsa along the Missouri, to the hills of the Sisseton-Wahpeton tribe, to the Yanktons chalk rock bluffs on the Missouri, west to the Big Horn Mountains on the Crow Reservation were considered home. It was near Wounded Knee on the Pine Ridge Reservation of South Dakota that Dean Parisian spent the majority of his high school years. Only 80 years before, the Hotchkiss guns were carefully trained on a group of terrified and disarmed Sioux in the hills northeast of Pine Ridge. It wasn’t a battlefield at Wounded Knee, like historians suggest, it was an assassination; as were America’s first freedom fighters; Sitting Bull, Dull Knife, and Geronimo. The carnage continues today as the Indian Affairs Trust Office still can not account for billions of dollars of Native American fund transfers.

Dean Parisian founded CHIPPEWA PARTNERS, Native American Advisors, Inc. a Registered Investment Advisor, in 1995 and closed in 2019. The firm was a manager to an exclusive clientele and was closed to new clients for many years. As a Registered Investment Advisor, their expertise developed over 35 years balanced experience, integrity and tremendous work ethic.

Mr. Parisian founded the company to manage serious wealth for Native American tribes and tribal members who understand that casino gaming alone is not the answer to viable long-term economic success.

Dean T. Parisian attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, the University of Minnesota-Morris, and Hamline University School of Law. During his undergraduate years, he was active in the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, a member of Kappa Lambda pledge class, Scroll #198.  His undergraduate degrees were in Education and Economics and he began his investment career in 1982. He trained on Wall Street with Kidder, Peabody, and Co. and joined Drexel Burnham Lambert, Inc. in LaJolla, California in 1984. Before the formation of Native American Advisors, Inc./Chippewa Partners in 1995 he was a Trust Officer at First Union Bank (then Wachovia, now Wells Fargo) in Atlanta, and managed his personal holdings with significant success before founding the firm in 1995. For over a decade, Dean was a member of the Atlanta Society of Financial Analysts. He was the first Native American mutual fund advisor licensed with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission.

He is a member of the White Earth Reservation at the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. You are encouraged to visit www.deanparisian.com to learn about Dean Parisian's commitment to inspiring a culture of Fatherhood and Philanthropy which is vital for the growth of human capital in Native America and to help in breaking the cycle of poverty, addiction, moral courage, and the suffocating absence of fathers and opportunity in Native communities.

Mr. Parisian, for over a decade, was an arbitrator for the New York Stock Exchange and the NASD (now FINRA). He is a member of the President's Club at the University of Minnesota, the Georgia Ornithological Society, and the Tennessee Ornithological Society.  Dean was recognized in many financial publications such as Barrons, Investment Advisor magazine, Financial Planning magazine, and the Atlanta Business Journal.

His greatest accomplishments include raising two sons and 33 years of marriage.

His philanthropic interest is in Native American education and he has endowed a significant scholarship for Native Americans as the benefactor of the Dean T. Parisian Native American Student Scholarship at the University of Minnesota.

The Parisian family enjoys outdoor pursuits at Pamelot, their farm in Tennessee, at the Ghost Ranch, their retreat on their Yellowstone River ranch in Montana, and at Casa Tule, their winter home in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico where he ocean swims daily on Palmilla beach.
