How it started.......................
Halloween eating and I'm not talking candy................
These Yellowstone River smallmouth bass are the finest fighting fish in North America! I can't catch and release them fast enough! I eat the fish injured by the hooks and probably won't make it.
November starts tomorrow. The weather will get serious.
Insanity in Government

Cheat card for the shit-for-brains crowd
Elon Musk uses the word "insane" to describe most things he finds "wacked" in his life. The liberal insanity against the American people is hard to fathom.

Donald J. Trump
I voted early. He got my vote. At 70, I can overlook the pomp and B.S. of a billionaire. I can't overlook who will get our nation back on the track we must be on.
Remember this, I just didn't vote for Trump.
I voted for Bobby Kennedy, Vivek Ramaswamy, Elon Musk, JD Vance, Tulsi Gabbard and all Americans united in making the United States of America a better place.

Kamala Harris to Rescue Native Americans!
Kamala to the rescue
HARRIS finally breaks down and visits a remote northern reservation.
With news crews following her around as they tour the place, the Vice
President asks the chief if there was anything they need.
"Well," says the chief, "We have three very important needs. First,
we have a medical clinic but no doctor to man it."
Harris whips out her cellphone, dials a number, talks to somebody for
two minutes and then hangs up. "I've pulled some strings. Your doctor
will arrive in a few days. Now what was the second problem?"
"We have no way to get clean water. The local mining operation has
poisoned the water our people have been drinking for dozens of years.
We've been flying bottled water in, and it's terribly expensive."
Once again, Harris dials a number, yells into her cellphone for a few
minutes, and then hangs up. "The mine has been shut down, and the
owner is being billed for setting up a purification plant for your
people. Now what was that third problem?"
The chief looks at her and says, "We have no cellphone reception up
here!"

SAVED! Man's best friend!
A week ago I dropped by to see some neighbors who live a couple miles away to tend to some business. They had lost their long-time pet dog and had told me what it looked like. It was blind and deaf, two conditions for lost dogs in rural Montana that don't lend much help to making it home alive with so many predators.
Today, a week later, myself and my friend CAM HOLT from Bozeman, MT who owns PRIMAL Meat & Fish in Bozeman were motoring down the Yellowstone River after a productive morning of catching fish; bass, sauger and catfish, and spotted a dog that was on the river bank under about a 10 foot cliff. We were able to get to the dog, Cam had to half undress to get in the water and retrieve the dog and get it into the boat. We called the owner to meet us with dog food and the rest is history!

Fishing Partner or Competition?
This adult bald eagle was enjoying some quiet time when I came along on the run to Ghost Ranch Bay. The pair are feeding on the dead deer I drug out of the river the other day that probably fevered up and died from "blue-tongue".
Smallmouth bass are nomadic and you don't want to run your boat into good structure and send the school into the river. Stealth approach works wonders. This was on my first cast!

Wetting a line in Big Sky!
When you can't draw a tag to hunt antelope, sheep, deer, elk or moose it's time to go fishing. In 70 years I have spent probably $100,000 on Montana hunting and fishing licenses for me and my entire family. Even though my ranch fawns 100 fawns a year and winters about 300 deer I can't get a tag to harvest a buck deer!
Some years it just isn't meant to be. Montana should just shut down mule deer hunting in counties with almost nonexistent deer numbers. It's a sad state of affairs. I lay blame squarely on MT FWP biologists' inability to forecast, use antiquated census surveys, and act in the best interest of mule deer. Does Montana want to manage big game or just dollars? You be the judge. You are brilliant. You have been hunting mule deer in Montana for a few years. You might have shot a deer or three. I am at 55 years of killing mule deer in Montana. It's the worst I have ever seen it. Sickening really, and just wait till next year! Just shut it down. Coyotes are equal-opportunity killers. They will kill their fair share no matter what. True democrats they are!
The cormorants were fishing this morning. The bald eagles were fishing. The otters were fishing. These fall days on the Yellowstone are magical. The blue of the heavens. The gold of the leaves. The diamond sparkles in the water.
The next beautiful sound will be the cast iron skillet frying these delicious smallmouth bass.
